Director of Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences
Dr. Jian-Dong Jiang, received his MD degree in the Fudan University Shanghai School of Medicine. He spent many years in the Department of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. Jiang came back to China in 1999 and worked as an institute director in the Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) / Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) in Beijing. Dr. Jiang is currently the president of the Institutes of Pharmaceutical Sciences as well as director of the Institute of Materia Medica, CAMS / PUMC. His research in drug R&D covers infectious diseases, cancer and metabolic disorders. Dr. Jiang has published over 180 English articles. Two accomplishments of innovative drugs have been translated into clinical use. He has received two National Awards in China for his contribution in drug discovery. In addition, he serves as the Chair of Department of Pharmacology in the Peking Union Medical College, and the Editor-in-Chief for the SCI journal of Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B since 2011.
